We had the 26th World Marathon here in its birthplace yesterday, Sunday November 4rth. Its that classic 45 km Marathon with alot of ups and downs due to the hillside terrain between Marathon and Athens. This particular event starts at the city of Marathon and ends up at the Panathinaikon stadium (the place where the first modern Olympic games took place) in Athens.
Here’s a short clip of some of the runners. Twas a bit rainy on Sunday…
Aside from that, I had the pleasure of hosting yesterday, with my wife, the father of an old friend and collegue, el Dr. Manuel Gonzalez (and his wife) who at the age of 67 succesfully completed the 45 km classic marathon in due time.El Doctor resides in San Luis Potosi Mexico and came all the way to Greece to compete in Sunday’s Marathon.
I first met el Dr. Gonzalez back in November 1997 when I attended with a friend, the wedding of his son (in Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico), collegue and friend, Juan Manuel who now resides in Montreal Canada.

If not too heavy, rain is a good thing to have during a marathon. It helps to keep the runners cool. Of course, I think running one is insane to begin with…
