I was out for dinner with some telecom executives Thursday night.
We went to a very posh fish place in Kifissia (just outside of Athens).
At about 10 pm, walks in the man himself : Vangelis.
Yep, the Vangelis of “Jon and Vangelis“, the Vangelis of “Chariots of Fire“, the Vangelis of “Aphrodite’s Child” etc..
The man sat right next to me on one of the round center tables (I was with the other execs on the square corner table facing the window).
Unfortunately I was so busy (it was a working dinner) that I didn’t get a chance to ask for an autograph.
Regardless, I’m sure I’ll run into him again. Who knows, maybe I’ll ask him what ever happened to Jon Anderson?; but for sure I’ll take a photo with him and have him autograph it. I always liked his music and he seems friendly enough…after all I’m also in my forties now…
Jon Anderson still performs and tours with other groups as a guest artist. He is not as big as he used to be, though.

I won’t hug him but I’ll certainly communicate your affections to him. We hold our management meetings in this particular restaurant, and the big V is a regular. In addition, I will certainly take a photo next time with the in house photographer and get him to autograph it.
