The winds of change
February 8, 2008

Obama sez he’s gonna bring about change.
Hillary sez she’s gonna bring about change.
Maggie believes that both will bring change.
Bush sez that the Democrat’s are a threat to peace and prosperity ,in other words the Democrats won’t bring any change since the Bush administration is already a threat to peace and prosperity; threat to peace by their middle east/iraq/iran policies and threat to prosperity by their loose fiscal policies vis a vis the growing US debt .
I don’t get it.
Is it the change of color that will bring change? I mean Barack will still operate within the system won’t he, or is he planning a revolution?
Is it the change of gendre that will bring change? I mean Mrs. Clinton will still operate within the system won’t she, or is she planning a revolution?
You mean american policy (internal and external) changes just like that?
How about american society? Are Obama and Clinton going to be homogenizing voting patters ? I mean we still see a pretty heterogeneous pattern from those that have a propensity to vote. Black voters lean towards Obama because they relate better to an African American, and Hillary is trying to get closer to female voters, although black female voters are following the Obama trail. White voters being the majority are leaning towards all sides, although it will be interesting to get a demographic view of republican voter patterns.
Also, alot of the chit chatter kinda gives you the impression that change will not come from any president that is white and male.
Well I don’t think that Marx, Galbraith, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Gorbachev etc.. will agree with this. I mean 4 of them actually brought about large scale change and one of them got killed in the process.
Is Obama and Clinton planning on moving away from laissez faire capitalism, a system that has been very good to the US, and has made the US prosperous? Sure there’s poverty and sure something has to be done but overall the US has prospered. If you look at some of the socialist countries, the whole population is poor as opposed to a percentage of the population in the US, and the west.
You mean that Obama, Hillary etc… will actually tax corporations in order to implement universal medicare, fix social security and reverse foreign policy?
Also, everyone keeps knocking Bill Clinton. Why?
I think Bill Clinton was one of the better presidents that the last couple of years saw. Greenspan agrees, and Greenspan is a republican (read the Age of Turbulence).
I think the change that was brought about by great men like Martin Luther King, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Socrates, Ganhdi etc… was brought about not because they relied on their color and gendre, but because they had a vision, a dream, of what this planet needs to get ahead, and they took the risks to implement it (or at least begun a process that resulted in the eventual implementation).
Most of them paid for it with their lives, but to them martyrdom was an acceptable option to reach their vision and goals: the betterment of humanity.
Of course all these required working outside the status qvo.
Anyway, I’m really really confused. Oh well, I guess I’ll go and watch an episode of Nip/Tuck.
Hmmmmmm, i’ll also smoke a cigar and drink a bit of champagne..
here’s to change!!!
