I was just informed by m’a main man from Mexico, that el professor Fraustro Campo, monument of saltillense society, dedicated PRI member, former schoolteacher, commander of the red society, patron of the arts, friend of the legendary Oscar Salinas Flores Tapia, admirer of the fair sex, has just turned 110 years old (and is still kicking).
El professor lost his wife and gained his pension about 40 years ago, learnt to drive about 30 years ago (and bought a car, a ford topaz, which he never drove but nevertheless keeps locked in his garage and cleans at least once a day, for the last 15 years !), enjoyed his last girlfriend about 20 years ago (but nevertheless still claims to be moved by the divine) and buried his 2nd son (he’s got two more) about 10 years ago.
The professor has very strict values, as he then communicated them to me:
A man has to be a man, and a woman a buena catolica!
I was once driving el professor to an open air meeting in a hacienda right off saltillo (on the road that leads to Zacatecas); the hacienda was hosted by its keeper , the notable mr. Carlos Charles, and had to do with survival scenarios in case of a peso devaluation.
This was right before the 94 elections and the peso devaluation (the meeting had to do with such scenarios which means that the saltillense elite already had some information or a feeling that something bad was gonna happen).
Anyway while driving there I asked the professor what the key to life was (the professor at that time was 100 years old).
He looked at me with half closed inquisitive eyes and screamed out :
“La lana, cabron!”.
In greek : ” Τά λεφτά, παπάρα !!!”
(I’ll let the english readers figure it out; you may need some slang spanish or greek lessons).
