I was overjoyed to receive in Athens this Sunday some colleagues and friends from Saltillo Mexico namely my old friends Pablo Morales, Jaunita Cahn and Eduardo (Tololo) Sanchez.
I had the pleasure of working with these individuals in Empresa Tecnologica Ericsson during my tenure there between 93 and 98 and after 10 years, we finally met under the warm and sunny Athenian sky.
Pablo, Juanita and Eduardo are currently working in TelTeq Saltillo which is owned and managed by former heavyweight Ericsson Mexico manager Jose Guttierez (and a very close friend).
We had coffee in Zappeion, then proceeded to watch the changing of the guard outside the greek Boule (parliament) in Syntagma square, then went on a tour of Athens which included the Olympic facilities, the National Archeological Museum, the Academy, National Library and university of Athens (original building as build by King Otto of Austria) and finally ended up at the hotel where the colleagues were staying (they’re flying out tomorrow).
I was also pleasently informed that our former collegue Juan Carlos Llamas has opened one of the most succesful cafes in Saltillo, outcompeting even the famous Starbuck’s chain. Juan Carlos plays excellent guitar and is a gifted folk singer.
If you ever find yourself in the city of Saltillo, capital of the Great State of Coahuila Zaragosa, drop by the cafe.
And if you’re lucky enough to catch Carlos strumming a tune on his guitar, go up to him and tell him : ” Hey Joven, Tony el Griego, sent us“.
Have a safe return flight dear friends and always know (and this applies to all former TXM colleagues) that aqui es su casa!
