Greeks boycott cafeterias

In people, arts and current affairs on April 10, 2009 at 4:22 pm

On Saturday the 11th of April 2009, Greeks in general and Athenians in particular have been asked through the internet to boycott cafeterias.

This is in response to the high price per cup charged by certain cafeterias/cafe shops and coffee houses.

Cafeterias in certain parts of Athens charge about 5 euro a cup of coffee, while equivalent outlets in Europe charge about a euro.

  1. Was it effetive?

    • I wouldn’t say so. Prices seem to have gone up instead of down. So if you do visit the new Acropolis museum, stay away from the local cafes. They charge about 8 euro a cup and if this isn’t a rip, I don’t know what is.
      The museum is awesome.
